COMM 317- Due Process of Law- Britney Spears

The issue of a legal due process is to treat an individuals rights respectfully and give him or her a fair chance.

Britney Spears's rights are protected by the 5150 because it allows a medical professional to help an individual that is a danger to herself and other people by which she is disabled and can be sent to a mental institution by family or friends. The California law evaluates a patient and decides whether or not that individual meets 5150 requirements.

The rights are the same because she is protected by the amendments, but also that her family members could also not have her processed into a mental hospital. Also the 5150 gives Britney a 72- hour time period for trained professionals to figure out her case.
